Eyelash extensions are not the reason a lash line develops build up. There are many reasons why natural lashes need to be thoroughly cleansed twice daily.
The job of natural lashes is to protect your eyes from dirt, dust and debris, therefore they build up in the lash line. Sometimes when wearing extensions the collection of these particles in the lash line is exacerbated as there is generally more surface area for them to collect on.
Use of oily makeup and cosmetics can clog pores, and block hair follicles.
And of course, our old friend the ‘Lash Mite’ is always there to keep us company. Everyone has a small amount of Demodex mites on their eyelids and lash line, in order to clean up dead skin cells, but when eye hygiene is diminished, they can overpopulate and become problematic.

Wash your face
Prolong lash cleaner is pH balanced, and when it comes to facial cleanser pH is important. pH refers to how acidic or alkaline a substance is.
The usual pH balance for skin is around 5.5, this means the skin is slightly acidic. This helps to keep skins moisture in, and germs out. A pH balanced cleanser will be able to break down dirt and oil, without disturbing the acidic layer of your skin and causing dryness.

Remember when we spoke about pH a moment ago? The typical pH level of a bar of soap is 9-12, this is too high for keeping in moisture. Prolong Lash Cleanser is a great trade in for that old bar of soap. Even better, if you get your hands on a bottle of Prolong Lash Cleanser Concentrate, all you need is to keep the old foaming hand soap pump bottle you just finished, rinse it out, add 1/3 Prolong Lash Cleanser Concentrate, and 2/3 distilled water, and you have yourself a perfectly pH balanced hand soap. Your hands will thank you for it.
Wash your make up brushes
How many times have you looked at your make up brushes and cringed at how much old make up is caked into them? Don’t worry, we won’t tell anyone, but we have a solution for you! Prolong Lash Cleanser cleans make up off brushes just as well as it cleans make up off your face and lashes. Simply wet your brush, fill your cupped hand with a few pumps of cleanser and then rub your brush vigorously into the foam on your palm, rinse well with clean running water, and repeat until the water runs clear, squeeze brush fibres gently in a towel and allow to air dry.
